Although macro towers so far have carried the majority of 5G traffic in the U.S., operators are under increasing pressure to expand their 5G coverage so they can handle more traffic on their 5G networks in urban areas. Experts believe that ultimately operators will rely on hundreds of thousands of small cells around the country to densify their networks. When will 5G small cells start to proliferate? And who will provide those small cells?
