WIA estimates 450,000 outdoor small cells and more than 700,000 indoor small cells and DAS nodes have already been deployed worldwide. Many analysts believe 2024 will be a big year for small cell expansion because operators need to focus their efforts on densifying their 5G networks and filling in coverage gaps with small cells. In addition, some believe the need for more FWA capacity will also drive more small cell deployments.
