This wide-ranging discussion will look at legislative priorities and also touch on policies at the FCC and the FAA that impact on wireless infrastructure companies, including permitting and siting reform, pole attachments, and the federal funding that is available for mobile and fixed wireless networks. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) allocates $65 billion in broadband funding and the bulk of it is being distributed through three programs run by the NTIA. These include the $42.5 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program, the $1 billion Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program, and $1.5 billion State Digital Equity Program. Other federal funding opportunities include the $9 billion 5G for Rural America Fund, the USDA ReConnect Program, and the FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) that provides a total of $20.4 billion to be awarded over 10 years. This panel of experts will help guide attendees through the various funding opportunities and how to access them.
