Director of Fiber Development
NextCity Networks (NextEra Energy)
Maier currently serves as the Director of Fiber Development for NextCity Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of NextEra Energy – the world’s largest utility and generator of renewable energy.
Maier’s telecom career began with American Tower in 1999 and has included tenures at Verizon Wireless, Crown Castle, and Zayo before joining NextCity Networks in 2019. Over his career Maier has worked to deploy and operate traditional macro cell towers, DAS systems at venues, small cells, Wi-Fi systems, and the fiber optics that support all these applications and more. His background includes project management, wireless network planning, real estate procurement and entitlements, contract negotiations, project implementation, local, state, and federal government relations, business development and strategic planning, and vendor management.
Maier currently lives in Orlando FL, and holds a Bachelors degree in International Affairs from Florida State University, and a MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
