Vice President, Product Management
Chris Boyd is the Vice President of Product Management within the Kratos Space Product Group and is responsible for Kratos’ OpenSpace® Platform supporting applications for Satcom and Earth Observation and Remote Sensing. Mr. Boyd drives the product strategy, development and delivery of key innovations benefiting Kratos customers operating military and commercial space missions. He assists in the industry’s sea-change adoption of technology that modernizes legacy space operations by virtualizing the teleport, expanding use of Digital RF capabilities, fostering telco-satellite technology integration, and expanding the use of cloud compute for EO mission-downlink, demodulation and post-processing.
Prior to his role at Kratos, Mr. Boyd held the position of Senior Director of Strategic Technology Initiatives within ST Engineering iDirect’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Group. He was responsible for identifying, cultivating and driving strategy for adoption of key technology innovations from industry as well as working closely with the CTO to foster research and innovation within iDirect’s engineering organization towards the goals of unlocking significant customer value and opening new markets for iDirect’s products and solutions. In other roles at iDirect, Mr. Boyd served as a Chief Network Solutions Architect in the Applied Research group, focusing on next-gen advanced mobility solutions.
As a former Network Consulting Engineer for Cisco Systems, Mr. Boyd has a deep understanding of system internetworking and has extensive experience delivering solutions to meet the rigorous demands of mission-critical operations. His has over 25 years of networking experience focused on the design of high-availability, high-reliability solutions that support global end-to-end IP networking and the delivery of advanced, mission-critical services such as telecom, broadband and other advanced communications.
Mr. Boyd has spent the last decade specializing in satellite communications for homeland security / homeland defense, first responder communications, disaster response communications (satellite, LTE and LMR); and has been an industry consultant for the rapid deployment of tactical satcom terminals, teleport operations and services used in disaster communications.
Mr. Boyd studied Civil Engineering and Computer Science at Widener University.
