Senior Vice President of Technology and Planning Operations
Marachel Knight is Senior Vice President of Technology Planning & Operations at AT&T Communications,
where she is responsible for capital management, global technology planning for network technologies,
large-scale network deployment projects including FirstNet (wireless public safety network), as well as
strategy, contract negotiations, and operations for AT&T’s wireless roaming and tower portfolios.
Over the past 20 years at AT&T, Marachel has served in a variety of technology leadership positions including
Senior Vice President of Engineering & Operations, Senior Vice President of Technology Services &
Operations, Senior Vice President of Wireless and Access Engineering, Construction, and Operations, Senior
Vice President of Technology Planning and Engineering and Senior Vice President of Wireless Network
Architecture and Design, AT&T Labs. Her specialties include technology architecture and development,
technology engineering, network construction, technology operations, technology realization and program
management, P&L, business operations, capital and expense budget management, and project management.
Marachel led the architecting and development of AT&T’s 5G commercial launch plan, launched AirGig
technology trials, advanced the transformative software-defined networking initiative and led business
development and project management for AT&T’s customized venue antenna solutions.
Marachel serves on the board of directors for Marvell Technology, a publicly traded leader in data
infrastructure semiconductor technology. She is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Business
and Community Advisory Council, providing an effective line of communication from business leaders on
current and emerging economic conditions. Marachel co-established and is a national advisor for Advocates
for Women in Technology, an AT&T employee resource network. Marachel gives back by volunteering her
time to mentor professionals and working with youth.
Marachel has two patented inventions: Systems for Use with Multi-Number Cellular Devices, and Messaging
Forwarding System. Marachel’s industry accolades include recognition as a 2018 Rising Star in Wireless by
Fierce Wireless; Black Enterprise’s 2018 Top Tech Influencers list; MAKERS@ 2018 Award, Black Enterprise’s
Most Powerful Executives in 2017; Diversity MBA Magazine’s 2016 Top 100 under 50 Diverse Executive
Leaders Award; 2014 Women of Color Professional Achievement Award; and 2013 Black Engineer of the Year
Marachel is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional. She earned a
master’s degree in information networking from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in
electrical engineering from Florida State University.
Marachel currently resides in Dallas and enjoys time with her family, reading, traveling and watching football.
